The Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic is a central government authority responsible for preparing legislation in the fields of civil, commercial, criminal and procedural law. It manages the court system, the penitentiary service, the Probation and Mediation Service, and regulates the legal professions (judges, lawyers, notaries and enforcement officers). The Ministry is also responsible for corruption prevention, conflict of interest, compensation of victims of criminal offences, and the administration of EEA and Norway financial mechanisms.
